A viral video shows sand from Mount Semeru flowing without water. Society is also strange with this phenomenon.

Friday (16/12/2022), the viral video, which lasts 29 seconds, shows a flow of sand without water which is said to have originated from Semeru. The sand does seem to flow like water.

BPBD East Java (East Java) also confirmed the occurrence of this phenomenon in Lumajang. BPBD said the incident occurred on Thursday (15/12) at 15.00 WIB in Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang. "According to information from the Lumajang Regency East Java Disaster Agency, this incident did indeed occur," said the Head of the East Java BPBD Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency, Satriyo Nurseno. BPBD calls this a normal phenomenon. This is because the location of the flowing sand is the path of the Semeru lava.

"This incident is common because the location is indeed the path of the lava (Semeru)," he said.

The ash column was observed to be white, gray to brown with a thick intensity towards the north. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 20 mm and a duration of 100 seconds.
